Summary

The major emphasis of my work has been in the area of sculptural ceramics. I am skilled with various ceramic construction techniques such as wheel throwing, mold making, slab building and slip casting. In addition, I have considerable experience with various firing processes such as Raku, cone 6 oxidation, reduction atmosphere reds, wood and salt firing. Described by colleagues as creative, dependable, and excellent teacher.

Responsible for teaching Pottery I and II evening course during the fall semester. Beginning ceramics concentrated on hand built construction and ceramic history; Intermediate ceramics explored functionality through simultaneous problems in wheel throwing and assemblage.

August 1998 - June 2001
Instructor of records for Beginning Ceramics courses during the academic years of 1998-2001. The USF ceramic program concentrates on hand building sculptural forms, emphasizing the use of clay as a material option in a conceptually driven fine arts program. Technical skills I master were, loading and firing wood firing kiln, gas kilns (reduction atmosphere ) mixing Cone 10 reduction glazes, building a 20 cubic foot salt kiln and two raku kilns. Additional duties included assisting professor in one semester of Introduction to Art.
